The broad understanding between Cambridge English Language Assessment (CELA) and TS government is to work for both the students as well as the knowledge providers in English. The CELA, which is already working closely in similar fields in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, would be playing a vital role in chalking out ways and means to make students improve their language skills and even train the teachers and improve their skill sets.
“In the end, everyone should realise that good communication skills in English will make them stand apart from the crowd, which is very important,” says Director (Operations), South and South East Asia, Angela ffrench.
In an interaction session with media on Tuesday, CELA officials said that their collaboration with TS government will involve interacting with students and teachers in classrooms and understanding the whole teaching process. “Like anywhere else in India, there is a lot of influence of local language while teaching in the classrooms,” pointed out Consultant, Higher Education, South India, CELA, B. J. Emmanuel Raj.
CELA members pointed out that they are working to put up projects like Society for Creation of Opportunities through Proficiency in English (SCOPE) and language testing services.
