Integrated IT and digital marketing solutions provider for global automotive retail industry, primarily car makers and dealers, CDK Global Inc., on Wednesday announced the launch of its India operations with the setting up of facilities in Hyderabad and Pune.

With a combined capacity to seat 1,500 people, they will be central to CDK Global’s strategic operations by providing product development, research and development and customer support.

Announcing the launch to presspersons in Hyderabad, CEO Steven J. Anenen said the company, operating in 100 countries, would like to also explore opportunities for its products and services in India.

The country, he said, offers tremendous potential. Globally, as more and more people buy cars online, the opportunities to make it easy for them as well as those in the sales network, is expected to rise from $40 billion to $60 billion in the next few years.

The firm, with $2 billion in revenues, was spun off in October 2014 from Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Inc. The 800 people on board at the Hyderabad and Pune facilities are from ADP.

Need to raise

the headcount

The plan, according to Mr. Anenen, is to raise the headcount to 1,500 over the next three years. To start with this year, 120 people will be recruited in Hyderabad taking the number at the facility to 620.

In Pune, where the headcount is 300, there are plans to recruit 80 people.

India operations, he added, are important from the perspective of supporting “our strategic goals... will help our global operations leverage the technical expertise of Indian talent pool.”

In the country, operating through CDK (Global) India, the company has invested $15 million on the new facilities.

It estimates the operational investment in the first year to be in the $30-35 million range.

Managing Director of CDK (Global) India, Reddy Malledi said: “We are looking forward to expanding our operations in India in the coming years.”
