Booty recovered

A person who is fighting a life threatening ailment was caught by the Uppal police for allegedly burgling the house of his friend at Navodaya colony last month. The police recovered five tolas of gold at his instance.

The man Joseph (31), an auto driver from Malkajgiri broke into the house of his friend Vicky last month when the latter was away. He decamped with two gold chains, ear rings, bracelet and a gold ring worth Rs. 1.25 lakh. “Joseph is addicted to bad habits and burgles houses whenever he is in need of money. He was earlier involved in property offences reported in various police stations in the city,” ACP Malkajgiri, M Ravichandan said.

Investigation revealed that the man was a sex addict and had physical relationship with several women whom he befriended by spending the money he got after selling the stolen property. The police who recovered his phone found phone numbers of several women. However, the police official said that they are not probing this angle.

Vehicle lifter nabbed

A notorious vehicle lifter involved in 12 cases of vehicle theft was caught by the crime team of Uppal police on Tuesday. The police recovered 12 vehicles and five tolas of gold all worth Rs. 8 lakh from him.

The accused Gadepaka Mahesh (22) of Dilsuknagar was caught during vehicle checking by a police team at Ramanthapur.

“The man moved used to open the lock with the help of a duplicate key and took away the vehicles,” Uppal Detective Inspector, S Khaja Moinuddin said.
