Creation of six open platforms across the city for cultural performances, and donation of pattu vastralu by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to the deity will be new additions to the celebration of ‘Bonalu’ festival this year.
The festival will be celebrated between August 2 and 25, beginning as usual at Secunderabad Mahankali Temple, and culminating at Golconda.
On August 2 and 3, the festival will be celebrated in Secunderabad, and at Lal Darwaza in Old City on August 9 and 10, said Minister for Excise and Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav at a press conference on Monday.
Mr. Yadav reviewed the arrangements to be made for ‘Bonlau’, which has been declared as a State festival, with officials from various departments.
Separate queue for women, arrangement of drinking water for four days, uninterrupted power supply, and temporary street lighting at locations were some of the directions given by the Minister to officials concerned.
He asked the GHMC officials to extend the Rs.5 meals facility to temple surroundings at all the three locations, for the convenience of the devotees. Police were directed to arrange for CC cameras for detection of theft.
