Central PF Commissioner explains scheme to employers and employees

Employee Provident Fund Organisation is targeting at better services to its members through various initiatives in the coming month or two, apart from the Housing scheme under which the first project is soon to be launched at Tuticorin.

Central PF Commissioner V.P. Joy, while explaining about the scheme to a group of employers and employees at a meeting organised by the the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, said the EPFO account should provide life long security apart from retirement security.

The EPFO will soon begin to deliver messages on the mobiles of its members as and when the employers deposit their contribution into the accounts.

Besides, the organisation is verifying the Aadhaar numbers of employees after which the latter will be able to transact online directly with the organisation without intermediation from the employers. Of the 4.75 crore members, only 1.8 crore members have submitted their Aadhaar numbers to the organisation, of which 40 lakh have been verified, Mr.Joy informed.

Another initiative in the offing is to transfer the employee’s account automatically through the Universal Account Number.

Eighty percent of the work has been completed with regard to these initiatives and the remaining will be done in a couple of months. Campaigning about the housing scheme, Mr.Joy urged the employers to take initiative in forming employees’ housing cooperative societies, so that the scheme can be availed.
