Emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and data analytics will play a major role in Bank of Baroda’s efforts in catering to customers’ financial needs.

Speaking to The Hindu on the sidelines of BoB’s 112th Foundation Day on Saturday, P. Sreenivas, General Manager and Zonal Head (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh), said, “We are using technology to understand customers’ behaviour and requirements. We are also using data analytics for the purpose.” All that will be done by following norms of data privacy and protection, he added.

Keeping this in mind, a Centre of Excellence for information technology and data analytics has also been established in Mumbai. Mr Sreenivas said the bank has a fully operational data centre spread over seven acres in Gachibowli established around a year ago with staff strength of around 300. The disaster recovery site was moved to another location to house the data centre.

According to Mr Sreenivas, the bank has a network of 195 branches spread across Telangana.

The newly-formed Hyderabad Zone controls 490 branches in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with a business of over ₹66,470 crore and profit of ₹1,100 crore. The bank has also initiated CSR initiatives.
