District Collectors across Telangana will soon leverage Information Technology applications for monitoring progress of various schemes with public interface and status of services offered to people in their respective districts.

Testing of the Collectors’ dashboard, a tool that displays status of various welfare and developmental programmes of different departments, had been completed. The project, christened as “District Monitoring System” was launched on a pilot basis in Ranga Reddy, Warangal Urban, Mancherial and Mahabubnagar districts and had proved its efficiency in providing key indicators to the officials concerned.

Senior officials said once operational, the collectors’ dashboard would display relevant information and data pertaining to implementation of various schemes consolidated on a single screen. “Collectors can access information by pulling data from the websites of the respective departments to ascertain the implementation of a specific scheme in their jurisdiction,” a senior official said.

The dashboard would comprise 94 parameters covering various Government schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi, fee reimbursement and complaints aired during the Praja Vani, the public interface programme of district collectors. Collectors can know about minute details relating to programmes like status of construction of double bedroom houses under weaker section housing, open defacation free status and agriculture indicators like area sown and the availability of inputs.

“Planning officers at the district level will be entrusted with the responsibility of updating the data on a regular basis,” the official told The Hindu .
