AP Ministers and TDP blackmailing Governor: TRS

June 17, 2015 10:44 am | Updated 10:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The ruling TRS has accused Ministers and TDP leaders from Andhra Pradesh of blackmailing Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on the issue of cash-for-vote involving several TDP leaders.

They are resorting to blackmailing tactics and trying to influence the Governor on the issue of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, TRS MLC Karne Prakabhakar alleged. Speaking to newspersons in the TRS-LP office on Tuesday, he faulted the AP Ministers’ attitude of acting against the Constitution.

The TRS leader observed that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts to get some escape route in the cash-for-vote case with the help of Union Ministers had proved futile and lack of support even from Prime Minister Narendra Modi had forced him to rake up the issue of Section 8 demanding powers to the Governor on law and order aspect in the common capital of Hyderabad.

He sought to know how the AP Government’s move of keeping Jerusalem Mathaiah, the fourth-accused in the cash-for-vote case, in their protection is justified. Ridiculing the AP-TDP leaders’ conspiracy to project the corruption case as a major row between the two States, the TRS leader said it was only an issue between individual and the law is taking its own course.

Mr. Prabhakar argued that Mr. Naidu’s decision to deploy police personnel from AP at his residence in Telangana and keeping Mathaiah in protection is an ample proof of his culpability in the issue. He alleged that Mathaiah is in the protection of AP Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa, on the orders of Mr. Naidu.

Meanwhile, TRS MP from Bhongir Dr. Boora Narsaiah Goud said Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act does not mean getting license for wrongdoing. He reiterated that Telangana Government has the constitutional powers to maintain law and order in Hyderabad and Mr. Naidu would not get “diplomatic immunity” here and laws would be applicable to him as to any other citizen here.
