Twenty-one-year-old Armaan Farid is the rage among the city youth these days. His first book ‘Stories from the Heart of a Dreamer' (APK Publishers) released last month has evoked a very good response.

His book is an anthology of short stories based on seven different genres such as romance, crime/horror, thriller and epic journeys of the human soul. “Writing is my everlasting passion. I am very conscious and careful about my characters and flow of thoughts, and the suspense dwells throughout the book as it was a major key towards turning a page,” explains the St. Mary's College graduate, who lives in Srinagar Colony.

“I was just experimenting and not expecting it to be accepted so well,” gushes Armaan, who claims to be influenced by the “artistic trait” of Salman Rushdie but “chose to write in much simpler language”.

His intense love for English and its captivating beauty inspired him to start writing at a fairly young age.

Armaan insists that the book is not just for youth, but “for all ages.”

According to him an “author must be sophisticated and eccentric, as eccentricity fetches good books”. His teacher's happy face after his book got published was his most memorable moment and a personal high was when it became the eighth best selling book on Flipkart's ‘New Arrival' segment for a month

The young author who is also otherwise an avid football fan, wants to pursue Masters in English Literature and “continue writing books” and “become a teacher at my school where I studied – Hyderabad Public School”.

‘Stories from…' is available online at Flipkart and Indiaplaza.

It will also be in all leading book stores soon.
