The State Government has expressed its readiness to launch the Rythu Bandhu scheme aimed at providing investment support of ₹8,000 an acre at ₹4,000 an acre for each of the two crop seasons.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that the government had mobilised the funds required for the implementation of the scheme and had deposited them in the banks. Farmers who receive that cheques under the scheme could readily get the cash through banks. The government had kept ₹4,114.62 crore ready in different banks for distribution among eligible farmers.

Cash ready

Officials of the Finance Department would approach the Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday to mobilise ₹2,000 crore more and the government would be prepared with more than ₹6,000 crore before the commencement of the cheque distribution, the Chief Minister said. The Government had ensured adequate reserves in SBI, Telangana Grameena Bank, Grameen Vikas Bank, Canara Bank, IOB, Corporation Bank, Andhra Bank and Syndicate Bank.

Printing of cheques and pattadar passbooks-cum-title deeds under the scheme was completed and sent to all the mandals. Bankers should make sure that the cash earmarked for distribution under the Rythu Bandhu scheme was not utilised for other purposes.

Patta passbooks

The Chief Minister made this remarks during a high level meeting to review the arrangements being made for the scheme scheduled to begin across the state on May 10.

According to an official release, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said the government had decided to issue passbooks to 57.33 lakh farmers across the State of which, 4.6 lakh farmers did not link their accounts with aadhaar numbers. It was accordingly decided to distribute cheques and passbooks to 52.72 lakh accounts which were linked with aadhaar accounts.

Given the intense summer conditions, officials concerned should ensure that cheques/passbooks were distributed between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. to avoid inconvenience to farmers.
