The Telangana government told the High Court that they have taken action against police persons allegedly associated with naxal-turned-gangster Nayeem and that no one will be spared.

The Principal Secretary, Home, Rajiv Trivedi filed an affidavit in court in response to a writ petition filed by K. Narayana of CPI, who sought a CBI probe into the Nayeem episode. He had alleged that police officers were involved and now they are shielded. The government said that the special investigation team (SIT) probing into links Nayeem had with the police identified 25 officials and imposed varying levels of departmental punishments on them. This is apart from the SIT cases booked. Cases were booked by SIT against 2 additional SPs, 7 DSPs, 13 police inspectors, two head constables and one constable for their alleged Nayeem links

Mr. Rajiv Trivedi in his affidavit stated that eight politicians were found to be having links with the gangster and cases have been booked against them in Narsingi police station.

Single judge order quashed

A division bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavli on Thursday stayed the orders of a single judge who permitted a 16-year-old girl to study MBBS in a foreign university. The bench did not appreciate the pressure put on the child by her parents.

Mallesh from Nalgonda filed a writ petition complaining that his daughter, who is 16 years old, is ready to join a foreign university for MBBS, but the Medical Council of India (MCI) rejected her application. Without eligibility certificate from the MCI, she cannot take up the course . The single judge permitted her to pursue the course. The MCI filed an appeal and the bench said that when rules do not permit a student who is below 17 years to study MBBS, the parents should not put pressure on the students. The bench suspended the order of the single judge.
