Indicating the party’s readiness to sound the poll bugle, the Telangana Congress announced that the Aasra pension would be enhanced to ₹2,000 from the existing ₹1,000 if the Congress party came to power in Telangana, while pension for physically-challenged would also be enhanced to ₹3,000 from the present ₹1,500.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced at a press conference here on Wednesday that unemployment allowance of ₹3,000 a month would be extended to 10 lakh unemployed graduates. The burden of unemployment allowance on the State exchequer would be around ₹300 crore a month.

AICC secretary in-charge for Telangana R.C. Khuntia, AICC secretaries Saleem Ahmed and Madhu Yashki Goud, CLP leader K. Jana Reddy, TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka and other senior leaders like Mohd Ali Shabbir, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Mallu Ravi and Sravan Dasoju were present.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the T. Jeevan Reddy Committee constituted by TPCC to study the pension scheme and the financial issues related to it has recommended enhancement of pensions and reduction of age from 60 years to 58 years for beneficiaries.

On AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s tour, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao released ₹970 crore dues to women Self Help Groups (SHG) a day after Mr. Gandhi addressed the SHGs. Mr. Rao feared the response Mr. Gandhi received from women, he claimed.

Mr. Khuntia asked Mr. KCR to respond on corruption charges in the redesigning of Kaleshwaram project, court’s admonition of the government on the expulsion of two Congress MLAs, non-release of fee reimbursement and other burning issues.
