AAP protests ‘illegal’ rustication of student

June 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Protesting against the illegal rustication of a student of a private school in Masab Tank, members of the Telangana Aam Aadmi party (AAP) staged a dharna on Monday. The party members alleged that the boy was rusticated after one of his parents filed an RTI application to know the fees and expenditure details of the school. The school had also apparently lodged a police complaint against the parent.

Submitting a petition to the District Education Officer (DEO), the party members put forward a set of demands. The demands include implementing the Right To Education (RTE) Act by the school authorities, withdrawal of criminal case against the parent and others, according to P.L. Vishweshwar Rao, spokesperson of AAP Telangana. Namrata Jaiswal, GHMC convenor, AAP, informed that the school authorities had promised re-admission of the student following protests.
