It was a carnival organised exclusively for poor children. They had fun, relished a sumptuous five-star meal and were offered shoes, blankets and other gifts.
All the 1,500 children, including differently-abled students, who attended the programme on Sunday walked away sporting smiles and with cherished memories.
This was the scene at the all-day carnival organised by Bisket Entertainments at a hotel in the city. “I was inspired by Aamir Khan’s programme - Satyamev Jayate - and organised the event to contribute my share towards a good cause,” Proprietor and Director of Bisket Entertainments, Srikanth Soma said.
All the children, who were students of different government and aided schools, were specially invited to participate in the programme. A few charity foundations too extended their support for the noble cause.
Children enjoyed every moment of the carnival. The venue reverberated with songs and music, which drowned the cacophony that is usually associated with a group of children on an outing.
Later, they enjoyed participating in face painting, interactive games and other fun-filled events and walked out with a goodie bag containing biscuits, wafers, stationery, blanket and bed sheet set and a pair of shoes.
“It’s really nice that we could come out on a holiday like this. We are having a good time here,” B. Shyamala a student said. It would be fun to have more such events for us regularly, she said.
