HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities on Thursday cleared a layout in the heart of the city.

The town planning officials of the GHMC took action against Pride India Builders who allegedly encroached on 10 acres of land in Matajinagar in Begumpet. Even though permission for the layout was denied by the officials in the past, the builders went ahead with works in the layout.

Property seized

The officials damaged the road laid in the layout and demolished the office structure and signboards. The officials also seized the office building of the builders.

The revenue officials had given a report that the area falls under the full tank level of Hussainsagar because of which permission was denied.

The area where the layout has been made was also submerged in the recent rains which swamped the city.

“We found the builder was even laying a footpath but we have damaged 90% of the layout. It is an unauthorised construction and the builder had even encroached on the land. In the last few days, plotting was also done and when we got the information we took immediate action,” informed a town planning official.
