She teams of Cyberabad police nabbed 62 persons, including juveniles and senior citizens for sexually harassing women in the last one-and-half month. The police also conducted 34 awareness programmes at various educational institutions, bus stops, ladies hostels, public places and interacted with 21,000 girl students.
The teams that include women cops position themselves at ‘hot spots’ identified by them and nab persons resorting to sexual harassment of women and girls. Around 330 places have been identified by the police as ‘hot spots’ by the police in Malkajigiri, L.B. Nagar, Madhapur, Shamshabad, Balanagar and IT corridor zones.
Amongst those arrested were a coolie, Buchi Reddy, 56, who made indecent gestures at women at Ghatkesar bus stop; two RTC workers for teasing women at Miyapur bus stop, and one DSC aspirant from Mahabubnagar district on similar charges, the police said.
