Polling for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections (GHMC) in sensitive and hyper-sensitive places would be video-graphed, the Cyberabad police said on Friday.
Briefing newsmen about the security arrangements for the GHMC elections to be held on November 23, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, S. Prabhakar Reddy, said there were 188 sensitive and 48 hyper-sensitive places in Cyberabad jurisdiction. Nearly 8,000 policemen would oversee security for the civic polls in Cyberabad area in which more than 24 lakh voters would exercise their franchise. Sixty seven localities were identified as problematic.
Mr. Reddy said 197 mobile parties - each comprising a Sub-Inspector, a constable and three armed constables- would patrol the areas on the day of polling. An Inspector would be in charge of a division while an Assistant Commissioner of Police would supervise four to five divisions.
Till now 1,217 gun license holders had deposited their firearms. Efforts were on to find out why the remaining 102 weapon license holders failed to deposit their arms. Two hundred and fifty history-sheeters were bound over.
