January 08, 2017 12:22 am | Updated 12:22 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Asifnagar police arrested a man for allegedly manhandling a Sub-Inspector of the same police station (PS) on Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place between 12 noon and 1 p.m. near the St. Anns Degree College at Mehdipatnam, where the accused Mohd. Anwar Syed Khan had come to attend a parent-teacher meeting. According to Asifnagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ghouse Mohiuddin, Anwar had parked his car on the road, leading to a traffic jam. When the Sub-Inspector, P. Venkateswarlu, objected, the accused reportedly manhandled him, verbally abused and pushed him to the ground. A senior police official said that Anwar told the SI that he was not a traffic policeman and that he should not object. After the incident, the Asifnagar police took Anwar into custody and booked a case against him under section 353 of the Indian Penal Codes for assault.
