Appealing to the State government to ensure that the Metro rail opens for public usage on routes where trial runs have been completed, Union Minister of Labour Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday said that he would push for the launch of the Metro operations in the near future. He said Metro rail could be run between Mettuguda and Begumpet and between Miyapur and SR Nagar.

Giving a lowdown on what the State got, he said some of his decade-old proposals like the laying of new railway lines in Medak were accepted this year. He said budget allocation to Telangana was more than satisfactory and the projects announced would connect the Telangana region better.

Talking about the city, he said 12 road-overbridges and seven rail-underbridges were sanctioned a budget of more than Rs 900 crore. Traffic issues near the Tukaram gate would also be resolved as a RoB would be constructed soon.

The Minister also reminded that the State government should be more pro-active in the projects that needed collaboration with the South central Railways department.
