HYDERABAD: Despite the ban on sale of Chinese manja, Charminar police found several sellers selling it. The cops conducted surprised checks on Friday and warned sellers against sale of the manja, which has been blamed for severe injuries during the kite flying season. Animal rights proponents have also campaigned against the use of Chinese manja, attributing it to the sharp rise in death of birds following kite flying activities.
Fake job agency
City police busted operations of an oversees manpower recruiting agency and arrested one person for cheating.
According to the police the accused, Mohammed Abdul Dilshad and his brother Mohammed Irshad, collected huge sums of money and passports from gullible youth on the pretext of sending them abroad for work.
However, the duo did not fulfill any recruitment commitments made even as they kept assuring their clients of work.
Based on complaints, the police raided the agency and found it was operating without permission from Government of India’s Protector General of Emigration.
Electrocuted
A teenager was electrocuted on Friday after attempting to extract a kite entangled to a high tension wire.
The boy Sai Kumar, resident of Malakpet was brought to Osmania General Hospital with burns on his hand in an unconscious state. The police said his condition was critical.
