Cong. slams TRS, stages walk-out

The discussion on budget demands in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Wednesday got reduced to levelling of charges and counter charges by the Treasury and Opposition benches till the Congress members staged a walk-out forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

Speaking on the budgetary allocation for the welfare of SC,ST, BC, minorities and women, Congress MLA S.A. Sampath Kumar took on the ruling party that the poor allocations belied these sections’ expectations from the TRS government.

At a time when the dalits and other downtrodden sections were eagerly waiting for the two bedroom houses promised by the TRS in its manifesto, the meagre allocation of Rs.1,000 crore to housing sector came as a let down when the pending bills alone amounted to Rs.1,500 crore, he said. However when he said that it was their misfortune that all the welfare departments were with Chief Minister, the ruling party members including Minister G.Jagadish Reddy protested demanding the member to withdraw his remarks while Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy noted that the corruption reached alarming proportions during the Congress regime. Some order was restored when Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy asked the Chair to examine the record as the member did not mean any disrespect to the Chief Minister. However the truce was short-lived when Mr.Sampath Kumar said that the TRS president who showered promises on dalits only deceived them after coming to power, Rasamayi Balakishan launched a tirade with other members joining the issue.
