For K. Sai Baba, general secretary and founder of Sports Coaching Foundation, it was another moment to cherish when the Jindal Steel Private Limited Foundation presented him with the ‘Rashtriya Swayamsiddh Samman’, which also carried a cash incentive of Rs. 1 lakh, a couple of days ago in Delhi.

This comes within weeks after President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented Sai, as he is better known in sporting circles, with the prestigious Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Award for being the Best Sports NGO in the country.

“This is a huge honour and I am glad that the efforts over the last 25 years are now being recognised and this should only spur me to be proactive in the days to come in promoting sports,” Sai told media on Tuesday on his return to the city after receiving the Award from Mr Naveen Jindal, chairman of Jindal Steel Private Limited.

Interestingly, the other two major Awards which Sai got include Rockefeller Foundation for featuring among the top four NGOs in India and also the Best NGO Award from the AmeriCares India.

“We are in touch with the Telangana State Government with an ambitious project to take sports to Government schools by introducing easy-to-play disciplines like football, basketball wherever playing area is possible by giving free the sports equipment,” the SCF general secretary revealed.
