Aero industry invited to invest in State

Skill Development Centre likely at Old Airport for aerospace industry

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a number of agencies on setting up skill development facilities in Hyderabad and also starting engineering courses in the Aeronautical industry.

A delegation led by IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao to the Bengaluru Aero India event signed the MoUs with Airbus, National Skill Development Council, AeroSchool Aquitaine of France and Cranfield University of the UK for setting up the facilities at the Old Airport in Begumpet, a press release said. The MoUs were signed at the Aero India event organised by the Ministry of Defence in Bangalore.

Mr. K.T. Rama Rao also addressed an investors meeting, which was attended by Union Minister of Defence Manohar Parrikar, where he explained about the manufacturing opportunities and skilled manpower available in Hyderabad and Telangana. Bilateral meetings were conducted with Saab, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing defence, TASL, Dassault Aviation, and Midhani where the Minister explained the aerospace sector investment policies in Telangana. Teams from these companies are likely to visit Hyderabad soon.in the near future, the press release added.

Mr. Rao also met Union Minister of Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Tata.

Both of them acknowledged the seriousness with which skill development has been taken up in Telangana and Mr. Ratan Tata recalled his experience during the inauguration of T-Hub in Hyderabad , the press release added.
