A state-of-the-art dairy unit of 3 lakh litres per day capacity has been proposed at Nallagonda village of Thimmapur mandal at a cost of ₹63 crore , said Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar.
The MP visited the Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited here on Saturday to participate in the Sankranti utsavalu celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, he said the Union government has sanctioned the new unit under Karimnagar dairy for rapid business and welfare of milk producers in the State. The foundation stone for the dairy unit at Nallagonda would be laid soon and the project would be completed within 20 months, he stated.
Of the ₹63-crore budget, the Centre would provide ₹10 crore as subsidy and the remaining will be loaned from the Union Bank of India. He said another unit would also come up in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district as part of its expansion programme .
Appreciating the Karimnagar dairy for making rapid strides in milk procurement, sales and welfare programmes, he said the State government is taking all measures to reform Telangana Vijaya Dairy.
Mr. Vinod Kumar also called upon the 70,000-odd milk producers to motivate other farmers to become members of the Karimnagar dairy. He also said that he would ask authorities of ISB in Hyderabad to conduct a field visit to study the success story of Karimnagar dairy so that the model can be followed in other dairies.
Karimnagar dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao, MD P. Shankar Reddy and adviser V. Hanumantha Reddy were also present.
