3 of a gang duping people arrested

A gang of cheats creating fake land documents using old non-judicial stamp papers from the scrap of civil courts and selling plots of others to the unsuspecting buyers was busted by police on Friday.

While three members of the gang were arrested, nine more were at large, South zone DCP V. Satyanarayana said at a press conference.

Mujeeb Khan, one of them, used to collect old stamp papers from the scrap of civil courts.

After getting the papers chemically washed, erasing the content on the stamp papers, he used to hand over them to his accomplice, Mohd. Aman. The latter used to prepare fake documents by typing agreements using old typewriters.

Members of the gang used roam in the old city and identify open plots or places where construction was stopped for some reasons. They used to gather details of the plot owners and prepare documents with those names.

Later, the gang would approach middle or lower middle class families and offer to sell the plots at cheaper rates. After receiving the money, they would dilly-dally the handing over possession of the property to the buyers citing different reasons.

In some cases, they even threatened the buyers or settled dispute with them by paying part of the money which they received.

Meanwhile, Amman, Ali Bin Mahmood Jabri and Mir Shaker Ali were arrested by the police.

The gang created forged documents of some open plots belonging to an associate professor of a private college.

Motorbikes recovered

In a separate case, the Kachiguda police of East zone recovered 10 motorbikes after arresting three persons Mirza Mustafa Ali Baig, Aamir Bin Sayeed and Mohd. Khaja.
