Three employees of a cash management services company, who had allegedly stolen Rs. 1.2 crore from bank ATMs in which they used to load cash, were caught by the police on Thursday.
As per their duty, the three workers used to go to ATM centres assigned by the office and deposit cash in the dispensing machines. Since they were familiar with passwords and unlocking of the machines, they hatched a plot to steal cash without arousing the suspicion of the company.
Having loaded cash in the machines in the morning, they would go home but return to the ATM in uniform at night. As the gang was aware of the passwords of the machines, they would key them in and open the machines.
“To outsiders, they would look like they were attending to duty,” the police said.
