The GHMC Standing Committee on Thursday approved proposals for construction of 20,000 more double bedroom houses in the city, with a blanket administrative sanction of ₹1,730 crore.
Proposals have already been placed with the government, pending approval by the standing committee, for construction of the units under the centrally-sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna.
The Centre has sanctioned a total of 1,22,877 dwelling units for Hyderabad, of which one lakh units have already been grounded in the patterns of G+3, Stilt+5 and Cellar+Stilt+9 floors.
The standing committee has also cleared proposals to raise ₹200 crore more for the Strategic Road Development Plan through issue of bonds, and to submit proposals to the Centre seeking two percent incentive on the interest on the issue of bonds, to the extent of ₹26 crore.
The committee has approved various infrastructural proposals, including the sanction of ₹87.34 crore for construction of four-lane flyover from Amberpet Crossroads.
The committee has cleared proposals for property acquisition for road widening in various stretches, including Khajaguda Crossroads to ORR at Nanakramguda, Botanical Gardens to Kondapur RTA Office, Gachibowli to Botanical Gardens, Apollo campus to Jubilee Hills, and Nampally Yousufain Dargah to Cafe junction.
Administrative sanction has also been given to proposals to invite tenders for construction of a subway near Pillar No. 13 of PVNR Expressway at a cost of ₹4 crore, and for modernisation and upgrading of computer network in GHMC head office at over ₹3.1 crore.
