At least 15 children from AKM Hostel, Kachiguda, were admitted to the Niloufer Hospital here on late Saturday night after developing adverse reaction to dinner served to them.

The condition of the children, all under the age of 10, was evaluated on Sunday afternoon and doctors said they are likely to be discharged on Monday.

Kachiguda police said the children had biryani brought to the hostel by a donor and some sweets prior to it. Later, they all started feeling uneasy and vomited.

Head of paediatrics department at Niloufer Hospital, N. Ravi Kumar said the cases were reported to them starting from 11 p.m. on Saturday till 3 a.m. “All of them are safe and under observation. They should be fit for discharge tomorrow (Monday),” Dr Ravi Kumar said.

The patients were administered intravenous fluids. Further treatment will be provided in case of diarrhoea recurring.

In a similar incident around 10 days ago, at least 61 students from a Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society school were admitted to hospital when they started vomiting after having breakfast.
