Fourteen students fell sick after gases emanated from the chemistry laboratory of their school at Gulshan Colony in Tolichowki on Friday.

Ten students discharged

While ten of them were discharged after being treated as outpatients at nearby hospital, four were kept under observation for sometime before being sent home.

All the affected students were of class VI. The lab was located on the first floor of the school building a few feet away from sections A and B of class VI. “Somehow an acid bottle fell on the floor. Due to chemical reaction, vapours emanated and spread from the lab to the two classrooms,” Golconda Inspector Qaleel Pasha told reporters. A case of rash and negligent act resulting in injuries was registered against the private school.
