Youth rapes minor on pretext of marriage

Arrested after girl files complaint

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her boyfriend on the pretext of marriage in Shahdara’s Seemapuri area. The accused has been arrested, the police said.

A senior police officer said that the accused has been identified as Chand Alam (19) who was arrested on Friday from his residence.

Were in a relationship

The police said that the accused and the victim were in a relationship and had fled on July 7.

“The man told her that he will get married to her. He took her to Jahangirpuri where he got physically intimate with the minor,” the officer said.

Refused to marry

The girl’s mother convinced the two to return home and they came back on Thursday. When the mother told the boy to get married after her she reaches her legal age, he allegedly refused. The girl approached the police on Friday.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
