A 32-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by four men in a moving vehicle after she was abducted by them from Timarpur on Sunday.

The woman told the police that she was going to a relative’s house in Jagatpur when the men offered her a lift in their car. As she knew them, she agreed to go with them.

“However, instead of dropping her at her destination, the men took turns to rape her in the moving vehicle,” said a police officer.

Victim dumped in field

Four hours later, they dumped the unconscious woman in an isolated field in Alipur.

The police were informed by a man who claimed that the men were residents of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, where the woman also comes from.

Initially, a Zero FIR under Section 376D (gang-rape) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Alipur police station.

The case was later transferred to the Timarpur police station.

No statements recorded

The police are now waiting for the victim to record her statements before a magistrate.

“We had asked the woman to come on Wednesday to record her statements. She, however, did not turn up saying she was at her native village and would come in a day or two,” the officer added.
