A 41-year-old woman was axed to death allegedly by her husband after the couple had an argument on Wednesday morning at Kanjhawala.
The accused himself made a call to the PCR, and said that he wants to surrender, but fled.
The incident occurred at their house when their younger son Imran had gone to the gym. He lives in Kanpur and had come home for vacation.
“The couple had an argument over some personal issues, which are not known yet. In a fit of rage, the man, identified as Aziz Khan, brought an axe from the veranda and attacked his wife,” said a senior police officer.
“He then himself made a PCR call around 8 a.m. But he fled despite telling the police that he would surrender,” the officer said.
When the police reached the spot, they found the woman lying in a pool of blood with the axe used in the the crime lying alongside.
The police seized the weapon, and sent the body for post-mortem.
Aziz , a native of Kanpur, ran a tailor shop and had been staying with his family at Roopali Enclave colony of Kanjhawala for the past many years.

“A team has been sent to Kanpur in search of the accused,” said the officer, adding that a case of murder has been registered at the Kanjhawala police station.
The couple often had fight over marital discord.
Investigating officials said they were questioning Aziz’s family members to get a clue about his possible whereabouts.
