Who is Kapil Mishra?

June 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

From being an activist to one of the most vocal members in this Delhi Assembly, 34-year-old Kapil Mishra has now been named the new Law Minister.

Mr. Mishra will be the youngest member of the Arvind Kejriwal Cabinet. Former Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar resigned on Tuesday after being arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with a fake degree case.

On Wednesday, the AAP named Mr. Mishra as Mr. Tomar’s successor. However, a government notification of his appointment is yet to come.

Mr. Mishra, the Karawal Nagar MLA, held the post of vice-chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board. Though he lost the election in 2013, he won the February 2015 polls by a margin of 44,431 votes.

Mr. Mishra is the son of BJP leader Annapurna Mishra. On joining the AAP, Mr. Mishra had said his mother had disapproved of his move.
