A civil services aspirant has been arrested for allegedly raping and sharing obscene pictures of a 24-year-old music teacher on social media in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijayanta Arya confirmed the arrest of accused Kishan (26), a resident of Shalimar Bagh. He holds a diploma in electrical engineering and is preparing for Indian Engineering Services.

A senior police officer privy to the case said that the victim, a resident of Jahangirpuri and a music teacher by profession, approached the police on Sunday.

“She said that she had met Kishan on Facebook in 2017 after which they started meeting. In October 2017, the accused allegedly took her to a guest house in Adarsh Nagar and forcefully established physical relationship on the pretext of marriage,” said the officer.

The accused repeatedly had sexual relations with the victim and when she refused the same, the accused allegedly started threatening her. “He said if she did not give in to his demands then he would share her obscene pictures on the social media,” the officer said.

On April 6, the victim came to know that the accused had uploaded her picture on a photo sharing application after which she decided to inform the police.

Based on a complaint, the police registered an FIR under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC and 67 Information Technology Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) after which the accused was arrested.

The police said that they are investigating whether the accused had shared the victim’s photo on other mediums as well and if so, from how many accounts.
