Srinwanti Debgupta and Shurti Jhamb — both students of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari Campus — emerged as joint Delhi-National Capital Region topper of the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination.

The results for the ISC and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination were declared on Tuesday.

Though the duo has identical scores of 399 out of 400, both are from different streams.

While Srinwanti is from science stream, Shurti studied humanities with her subjects, including psychology and economics.

However, both maintained that they focussed on the quality and not on the number of study hours and continued to pursue their interests in the run-up to the exams.

Future plans

Shruti now plans to apply to Lady Shri Ram College for psychology (honours), Srinwanti, who had earlier aimed for maths (honours) from Delhi University, said she could now explore better options.

Vedik Agarwal of St. Mary's Academy in Meerut Cantonment scored 494 out of 500 to top Delhi-NCR in ICSE examination.

Of the total 2,426 students, including 1,145 girls, appearing for ISC examination in 32 schools in Delhi-NCR, 98.35 % passed.

The students appearing for ICSE examination in Delhi-NCR fared better with the pass percentage of 99.23 %.

A total of 4,962 students, including 2,337 girls, took the ICSE examination in 48 schools in Delhi-NCR.

Way to go

Girls fared better than boys in both examinations with the pass percentage of 99.57 % and 99.13 % for ICSE and ISC respectively.

While 103 Scheduled Caste and five Scheduled Tribe students took the ISC examination in Delhi-NCR, the number of students appearing for ICSE examination for the two categories was 246 and 13 respectively.
