The next time you are buying fuel at the city petrol pumps, watch out as two petrol pump owners were booked on Thursday by the enforcement agencies for discrepancies in measurement.

As part of a special drive to check adulteration and malpractice in dispensing of petrol and diesel across pumps across the city launched by the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Delhi Government, surprise checks were conducted at six petrol pumps in Delhi.

Six teams were constituted for simultaneous surprise inspections of petrol pumps under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Each team comprising four members headed by an Assistant Commissioner (Food & Supply) inspected petrol pumps located in different parts of Delhi.

“Petrol pumps located at Majnu ki Tilla, Ghevra, Vikas Puri, Jasola, Dhansa Border and Mayur Vihar were inspected. Team checked measurements and density of the products and also took samples for further investigation. Challans were issued on the spot to two petrol pumps for discrepancies in measurement and not displaying/unavailability of verification certificate,” a statement from the government said.
