Two men have been arrested from Rajasthan’s Alwar district for allegedly killing a Delhi Police head constable last year, said officers on Monday.
The accused — Chinder Pal (22) and Irshad Khan (19) — were carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh on their arrest, they said. The police said Ram Avtar Meena was shot by some unidentified persons in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur on September 12, 2018, at 12.34 a.m.
During investigation, it was revealed that Meena had returned from work around 9.45 p.m., after which he went outside for some work. The police said he was spotted lying unconscious in a street near his house later.
“Months after the incident, the police got a tip-off about the accused after which they were arrested from Alwar on August 3,” said DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal. During interrogation, Chinder and Irshad disclosed that they, along with their accomplice, had planned to steal motorcycles from here, the police said.
On September 11, 2018, they procured a pistol and came to the Capital. While trying to steal the two-wheeler, Meena reached there when the accused panicked and Chinder shot him, the police said. Manhunt is on for the accomplice, the police added.
