Almost three months after a Christian school in South Delhi was vandalised, the Delhi Police have arrested a group of robbers for the said crime at the school.
According to police, the robbers had been committing thefts across various private schools in the Capital.
MHRD minister Smriti Irani is an alumnus of Holy Child Auxillum School in Vasant Vihar where the incident took place.
The incident was the sixth such ‘attack’ on Christian establishments in the city in the last three months. After the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had summoned the Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi and ordered a crackdown on those involved in such incidents.
Talking about Friday’s arrest, a senior police officer said: “The gang has carried out at least 30 such robberies at schools in every nook and corner of the city. They used to strike only in the first half of the month knowing that students deposit their fee in these days and cash is kept in the principal’s room.”
The accused have been identified as Gaurav alias Deepak alias Guddan (23), Sikandar alias Machhar (21), Dharmender alias Kali (23), Vikas alias Chhotu alias Chikna (21) and Pawan alias Akash (23).The incident took place on the intervening night of February 12th and 13th.
