Three persons, including a security guard, were found dead on the rail track near Ashram in south-east Delhi Tuesday evening, the police said.

No eyewitnesses

Stating that it is suspected the victims were hit by a train while crossing the track, the police said efforts are on to trace eyewitnesses.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Parwaiz Ahmed said while the identity of two victims is yet to be determined, the third deceased has been identified as 30-year-old security guard Shankar.

“We suspect they were hit by a train while crossing the track. Since no eyewitnesses have been found, we are looking into the matter. We will also scan footage from CCTV cameras, if any, installed near the track for more clues,” said Mr. Ahmed.

The police said a passer-by standing on a flyover who spotted the bodies lying on the track called them at 6.30 p.m.

The police reached the spot along with the forensic crime team. The bodies have been sent to the Sabzi Mandi mortuary for post-mortem.

Khanpur resident Shankar was a security guard with a private company in Tughlakabad. His father, who also lives in Tughlakabad, has been informed about the incident.
