Students’ group, CPI(M) condemn ABVP ‘hooliganism’ at council meet

The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation and the CPI(M) on Thursday condemned the ABVP for its alleged “hooliganism” at a Delhi University’s Academic Council meeting earlier in the week.

The way the ABVP was allowed to enter the Vice-Chancellor’s lodge is a symbol of the relationship between the BJP government and the DU administration, the CPI (M) said. There is an attempt to change the syllabus through “immoral pressure” behind which a political motive is apparent, it added. The ADISO made similar allegations against the V-C and said that the “Sangh Parivar is trying to appoint their henchmen in different institutions and through them it is trying to modify the syllabus to be in line with the RSS, undermining the opinion of different democratic bodies by hook or by crook.” The group called it a blow on the democratic principles of educational institutions.
