Four members of the education committee were elected in a special meeting of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday.

Five members from the BJP, the Congress and the AAP had filed their nominations. BJP’s Sunil Sehdev, Aarti Singh, Poorva, and Darshana of the Congress were elected to the panel. The AAP had fielded Kiran Chaddha. Of 104 councillors, 103 members cast their votes on Wednesday and 101 were considered valid by the House. Members were also nominated for 12 other panels and 11 ad hoc committees.

Two resolutions

Two resolutions proposed by Congress leader Abhishek Dutt and BJP representative Shikha Rai were also passed by the House.

Mr. Dutt appealed to the House that since there are now representatives of three political parties, the civic body should sanction monthly office expenses for the leader of the Congress as well. The BJP moved a resolution under Section 40 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act.
