Following through may be more difficult, but making a New Year’s resolution is as easy as signing up for a dance class or paying up for a gym membership.
As 2015 arrives, Delhiites are busy making plans to better themselves in the New Year by learning something new or leaving behind an old habit. Enrolment at gyms, music and dance classes, and smoking cessation treatment centres has increased this past week.
Shedding a few kilos and getting fit seems to be one of the most popular resolutions. According to a spokesperson of global gym chain Fitness First, memberships increase in January.
However, not all follow through with their plans to get fit. The spokesperson said: “A few of them stick to it and succeed in making fitness a part of their lifestyle, but there are quite a few who don’t see it through.”
Learning how to dance figures in among the top resolutions as enrolment at training institutes increased this past month. The Danceworxx, which has 10 centres across the NCR, saw over a 100 new registrations from December 26 to 28. Danceworxx marketing manager Neha Gupta says the centres always see more interest in December and January.
Another popular resolution is to give up smoking, which tends to be harder to do. Various clinics across the city have been advertising their programmes targeted towards those who want to kick the habit in the new year.
