In a letter to Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, the Confederation for All India Traders urged redesignation of commercial, mixed land and residential areas of Delhi.

According to a press release by the union, various areas, especially in the walled city, that have been running commercial activities for over a century, still face the threat of sealing and conversion charges by the monitoring committee over problems of lack of clarity and other issues.

The names of Chawri Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Khan Market, Chandni Chowk in Delhi denote that these are commercial areas, the release pointed out. The issues exists everywhere whether it is the Delhi Development Authority, the Delhi Government or the Municipal Corporations, it added.
