A juvenile red sand boa was rescued by the Wildlife SOS Rapid Response Unit from Shahdara metro station on Thursday. The snake is currently under observation and will be released into its natural habitat once deemed fit.

Timely action

On Thursday afternoon, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) authorities at Shahdara metro station stumbled upon a snake inside the station control room.

The authorities immediately reported the incident to Wildlife SOS on its 24-hour rescue helpline (9871963535).

A two-member rescue team was promptly dispatched to the location. They identified the snake as a juvenile red sand boa.

Wildlife SOS special projects Manager Wasim Akram said: “On receiving a call from the DMRC authorities, our team rushed to the metro station and safely transferred the snake into a transport container. Over the years, we have carried out several reptile rescues from various metro stations across Delhi-NCR.”
