A Delhi court has granted protection from arrest to a broker accused of cheating a woman by encashing cheques issued by her to a real estate firm for purchasing a farmhouse in Jaipur.

Hearing on June 20

Additional Sessions Judge R. L. Meena directed that the accused would not be arrested till the next date of hearing on June 20.

The court granted him relief when his counsel said that both parties were likely to reach a settlement through mediation. “In view of the above facts and circumstances, interim protection be granted to the applicant (accused) with the direction that he will not be arrested till the next date of hearing,” the Judge said.

In the application, counsel for the accused submitted that the matter was being settled through mediation as per which the accused had to pay to the woman ₹3.21 lakh as full and final amount in three instalments, and in return she would withdraw her complaint against him.
