Three private detectives, hired by a man to keep a watch on his wife, were arrested when they were following the woman in Khan Market, the police said on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old woman alleged that she was being stalked for the past three four days. The accused revealed that they were hired by the woman’s husband to spy on her, the police said.

The accused have been identified as Hemant Aggarwal, Babar Ali and Amit Kumar, residents of Kabir Nagar, Bhajanpura and Mayur Vihar respectively.

A PCR call was received at Tughlak Road police station where the caller informed that she was being stalked by some persons.

Followed her to hotel

A team was rushed to Khan Market and met the woman, a resident west Punjabi Bagh. “The woman reported that she was being followed by three persons from three to four days. On Monday when she first went to Leela Hotel and then to Khan Market, they followed her,” said a senior police officer.

The police said that she sensed that she was being followed at Leela Hotel and informed the manager but they fled. Later, they returned to follow her at the market.

“In the market, she informed her relatives over the phone about the men who were following her. Her relative reached Khan Market and caught the three of them. They informed the police and all of them were brought to Tughlak Road police station. During interrogation, the accused Hemant disclosed that he was hired by the husband of the woman to keep an eye on her,” said a senior police officer.

‘Extramarital affair’

Sources in the police said that the couple was married from the past 11 years. Recently, the couple was facing marital discord and had a lot of quarrels as the husband doubted her of having an extramarital affair.

“He hired the three private detectives to spy on her acts. The husband has been absconding since the incident and efforts are being made to nab him. A case under Section 354D [stalking] of the Indian Penal code has been registered,” said the officer.
