Places of worship told to install cameras

February 03, 2015 02:50 am | Updated April 02, 2016 03:56 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The church in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area that was vandalised in the early hours of Monday did not have a CCTV camera installed, but the police said they had been able to locate a camera “installed nearby” and footage from it was being scanned. Last month, three people were arrested in connection with vandalising a church in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area.

In another such attack, a week after Christmas, a crib at a church in Outer Delhi was set on fire. Both incidents had prompted Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi to issue instructions to the effect that places of religious worship equip themselves with CCTV cameras.
