Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Sheila Dikshit on Sunday said that it was imperative for the Congress to come back to power to restore the rule of law in the country to save it from the dictatorial clutch of the Modi government at the Centre.

Ms. Dikshit said that the morale of Congress workers was high and that the party was all geared up to face the upcoming Lok Sabha elections unitedly to defeat the “corrupt, communal, casteist and divisive forces”. The former Chief Minister was addressing a convention at Adarsh Nagar in Rani Bagh.

“The real strength of the Congress is unity, and we are all foot soldiers of the party who are striving hard to bring the party into power by uprooting destructive and anti-social elements such as the BJP and AAP from power,” Ms. Dikshit told workers and asked them to go door to door to make people aware of the true face of the BJP and AAP, while also educating them about the developmental works undertaken by the Congress in Delhi.

She said that the BJP had ruined the lives of the people of Delhi through demonetisation, GST and the sealing and demolition drives and that the Kejriwal government, in its four-year rule in Delhi, has not done any development works. “AAP government has been taking credit for the works completed and projects started by the Congress government during its 15-year rule in Delhi. The Congress government had made it one of the best cities in the world,” Ms. Dikshit said.

She further said that the people of Delhi are fed up with the “corruption-ridden rule” of the BJP government at the Centre and in the municipal corporations of Delhi, thriving “on lies and hollow promises”, and the “inefficient and direction-less governance” of AAP government in Delhi.
