The Election Commission on Monday deferred hearing on the office-of-profit allegations against 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs till August 20, in view of their plea seeking more time to prepare for the final round of arguments.

“The hearing was adjourned and the next date has now been fixed for August 20. The MLAs had sought time to prepare for the arguments,” said an EC official.

Cross-examination

The Commission had earlier turned down the MLAs’ request for cross-examination of the petitioner, stating that he was not a witness in the proceedings.

“The respondents had also failed to make out a case for calling any witness as pleaded in their applications, said the 70-page order issued earlier this month.

The EC resumed the hearing in May following a Delhi High Court directive in March.
