Notorious criminal held

The Gurgaon Police have arrested a notorious criminal along with four members of his gang at Sultanpur village here.

Information leading to the arrest of Surender alias Sunda, a resident of Jhajjar, carried a cash reward of Rs. 2 lakh.

A Gurgaon Police spokesman said the police had received a tip-off that Surender and his gang were travelling to Gurgaon from Jhajjar.

The police set up a check post at Sultanpur village, where a car with five occupants was detained after they were unable to produce car papers. A check revealed weapons, including four country-made pistols, three country-made revolvers, 10 live cartridges and one shell.

The spokesman added that the other members of the gang have been identified as Vipin alias Samrat, Amardeep alias Chinu, Sandeep alias Teenu and Ravi Dutt alias Dillu, all residents of district Jhajjar.

He said a number of cases, including murder cases, are registered against Surender in various police stations of the State.
